Welcome, Diane! Thanks for the tips! I will keep this in mind for my next string change. I’m grateful to have had a wonderful fiddle all the way from. . .SoCal. Yep, I grew up in Orange County and bought my “for life” fiddle at Morey’s music in Long Beach back in 89 or 90!

Hi–have been working on the lovely Da Slockit Light this week. I’ve noticed that Hanneke incorporates plenty of ornaments: flicks, hammer-ons, grace notes, double-stops. However, she doesn’t use slides in the piece. I’m wondering: is that just her personal preference, or are slides considered too “heavy” for airs? Thanks for your help!

I know, the topic of fiddle strings stirs up more controversy than political candidates.
But still. . .what do YOU like?
I’ve been using Helicores for awhile. But before hitting the “order” button for a $45 set of strings, are there any other lovely sets you’d recommend?

Hi Poetmom, Yes there are many points of view and since all strings are expensive its hard to test them at random because there are so many to try. So I would investigate cautiously and within your budget. If the strings you’re using are satisfactory then changing may be unnecessary.
