Hi, Andrea.
A typical 5-string Fiddle is a regular 4/4 body with a slightly wider neck to accommodate the extra string. There are some 5-string violas, but the tone of these instruments is generally different/lower than a standard fiddle. Best of luck as you search…make sure to play before you purchase as it’s the rare box that includes b…[Read more]

Hi, Laura.
I’ve always played a standard 4/4 size violin and haven’t really run into other folks who strung up a viola as a fiddle due to concerns that a 4/4 size box is too small. There are quite a few taller folks out there playing standard sizes…The only item I’ve remarked is that players with longer necks generally end up with a talle…[Read more]

Hi, Natty. Yes – I’d like to cut some swing style lessons for the project…that’s a great genre. I’m getting ready to start recording again here soon, but I have a bunch of waltzes and bluegrass-type stuff in mind for that…I hope to have time to cut that style in the future…might be easiest to just bring in an instructor from that…[Read more]

Hi, Davis & Nuala.
I’ll pass Reel du Forgeron on to the guitar player we have working on Andre’s material…
I’ll bump up Stenson’s in the production queue for Kevin…he has a couple to review right now, but those should be up after that.
Cheers, and fiddle on!

Hi, Larry.
Each of the tunes/lessons takes quite a bit of work to produce and review, so the lessons will be released over time. Right now, there are 5 tunes/lessons produced and in review. Those will be published as the instructors have time to provide any feedback/changes that need to be made.
Feel free to advocate for any specific tune you…[Read more]

Hi, Larry and Seadamson.
I agree we need more slower tunes from Andre. We have a couple more slow ones recorded but not yet produced, but the majority of his lessons from his first sessions are reels. I’ll add those titles to the suggestion list for the next time we get him in studio.
Speaking of studio seasons, I do plan to start recording n…[Read more]

Hi, Failte.
Patti recorded that tune already…I believe we need guitar tracks for it, but the lesson is already in the can, so to speak. I’ll make sure we cut guitar for that tune on the next session…stay tuned for sometime later this year…
