Roland, I was able to find a set on Amazon for $89.50 with free shipping. I ordered the set with the platinum E. My fiddle is a bit small. Not quite a 7/8 but close. I’ve been using the Evah golds on it and they sound pretty good except for the D. They are pretty hard for my left hand fingers too. I have Obligatos on it now but I’m still not 100%…[Read more]

I love it, Patti! The Poor Girl Waltz is my favorite of your tunes so far.

Quick question for Roland — You mentioned that you like the Peter Infeld strings. Which ones do you play, the Red’s, Blues, or Pi’s?

Thanks Roland. I have been using both Shar and SW and they are both good to deal with, but I have not checked out GO Strings yet. Thanks for the tip; I will give them a try.

Here we go again…
Two more questions about strings:1) What strings does Kevin use?
2) What is an economical place to purchase strings? (I have bought them for my various instruments from different places, and they are all quite expensive. I am hoping you guys might have a recommendation that might save me money.)

I am so glad I found you guys! I am learning from all of you. Now I need to get my Canadian hat on and learn some of Patti’s tunes! Hanneke, I can’t wait to learn how to dot some dragon eyes, as I’m not too fond of dragons. I heard you play Dot the Dragon’s Eyes on your album and it was so beautiful. Bring it!

DanRoseberry replied to the topic A/B Looping and Speed Adjustments- What do you guys think??? in the forum Fiddle Lesson Forum 8 years, 7 months ago
It works on my iPad Air2 also. The only difference I see is when changing speed I have to hit the play arrow each time on my iPad, but on my laptop the speed automatically changes without having to hit the play arrow each time. All in all I believe this will really help me a lot. Thanx! And by the way Casey, you really scream on Jerusalem Ridge…[Read more]

Works great on my MacBook Pro. Haven’t tried it on my iPad yet. I must say that I am very impressed with Hanneke’s playing of Hector the Hero. She plays it just as well at 2x as she does at 1x! Impressive;)

I would love to learn it too. This is one of my favorites. Patty does it so well.

Well, this is really good news! And I must say, that the concept of the Fiddlevideo Project is outstanding in my humble opinion. The whole idea of being able to learn from different fiddling-artists representing different genres in one place and at one price, is unique and helpful. And the thought of adding more artists is exciting! The way…[Read more]

I am so glad to hear this question asked. I would like to hear all of you guys chime in on string choices. I have a set of Evah’s on my little fiddle. It is a Cannone copy from Infinite Strings and is somewhere between a 7/8 and 4/4. It came with Evah’s on it and I have been afraid to change brands. However, I have been thinking about taking…[Read more]

I too am so excited and blessed to have Kevin for an instructor. And that he is! He is not only an awesome Irish fiddler, but he has a real gift for teaching as well! He goes at just the right pace for me and I have been able to pick up several of his easier tunes, as I am not ready for the advanced stuff quite yet. I was actually able to do a…[Read more]

First let me say I am loving this site! It is perfect for me as I am trying to learn Bluegrass, Scottish and Irish fiddling at the same time. I have learned several tunes with your help. Thanks!
I have several tunes I would like to see you guys tackle in the future, but I am only going to list one for now. The tune is “The Gael” by the…[Read more]

We do have a flea market close by. Maybe I will check it out. We’ve been meaning to give it a visit anyway.

I have been trying out bows for a couple of months now. My current bow is a German Brazilwood silver mount bow, but it is heavy, over-haired and poorly balanced. Being a rather financially challenged guy I have been looking up to around $700 or so. I have found that a pernambuco bow in that price range isn’t much better than my clunky German…[Read more]
