Oh that’s so terribly sad, and the treatment is often so debilitating – sending love and prayers

This tune was one of the reasons why I started playing the fiddle, along with some others including this one, Lily Dale – still no where near playing it unfortunately, even with the sheet music….I decided to try learning it without the doubles stops and maybe I can throw these in a few years when I get better. Right now, sometimes even I feel like leaving the room when I’m practicing…

Thanks Casey – hope you have as much fun as I did!
Thistle – Wasn’t tired til I got home! Was so out of my comfort zone, I had to try and keep up (was just playing alternate notes in the beginning) but kind of started speeding up after a couple of hours as there is no time to think or second guess yourself – There were 2 other classical ladies in our group, they were pretty awesome, they got it quicker than me…been playing in orchestras for years, switched to fiddle recently, we got to play harmonies together. 2 or 3 peeps could not read music and would just listen to the tune once and then just play along – I was in awe!

Should have watched this before I went to camp – Great vid….went to camp – had a blast – got shuffled up to the advanced class, I think was based on reading music (felt way out of my league!) Totally awesome people, they packed 6 hours of lessons into each day, 6 teachers rotating every 45 minutes with new tunes, tons of funny old fiddle stories, learnt a ton, sped up a lot and made fiddle buddies. Nightly concerts were fun, actually joined in a couple of evening jams, which I have never had the nerve to do before – Looking forward to next year….

Looks like a very nice bow – I tried a coda bow when I upgraded, they have a ton of great reviews from all styles (although my playing did not do it justice) it was a lovely bow, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
I am not sure if the fiddle matches the bow, seen fiddlers pick up basically anything and play like they owned it, but that wasn’t me, (I barely play my own like I own it) but I was in need of an upgrade…so I blind tested 5 in my price range, I didn’t even know there were so many different bows…..I picked one I had not even considered (my husband joked that it was like me – an expensive little thing!) but it felt great and sounded just as I had imagined.
If you have the option, maybe you could try some – who knew there was so much in a bow…and a fiddle!

From Southsea, UK, now in Fort Worth, Texas…no shortage of fiddlers around here – trying to blend in…

I’m a touch obsessed with the foot tapping too – but totally not getting it yet! I’m hoping it just happens with tons of practice.
So I’m working through The King of the Fairies
and Hommage à Philippe Bruneau
