Howdy, Laura.
Sounds like you’re really diving in on the subtleties of Scottish playing…great stuff!
Have you checked out this video? That might help??
I’m no expert on the whole Scottish thing, but if you’re starting out on a down bow and using 8 strokes to create a grove over a reel measure, that fourth beat you will want to emphasis…[Read more]

Hello, My students and I are trying to apply the “1, 4, 7” Scottish groove to tunes. We can get beats 1 and 7. Beat 4. Help! We can’t seem to feel it, get it at speed, understand this at anything remotely resembling a “reel” speed. (Ugh, no pun intended there)! I observed several of Hanneke’s Reel performances and sometimes I hear it and see…[Read more]

Hi, Hailer.
Good stuff…and welcome to the site!!
I’ll pass these thoughts onto the folks who handle that coding. That definitely sounds like it would take some development to add, but we’re always looking for ways to improve the user experience…
If you’re using a phone or a tablet to view lessons, you might try accessing the site from a…[Read more]

Hi there
I’m new to the site and I’m really pleased, the looping feature is great but difficult to use, it’s hard work to return to a precise loop point. It would be great to thumb wheel down to a start and stop point, then store clips for later recall. Another possibility could a 3rd party editing product be used to give us more flexibility with looping? -

Hi Sharon, Well in your case I would repeat the adage, “Where there is a Will, There is a Way.” …I do recall in fiddle workshop I went to where the instructor pretty much made us feel like wimps and whiners if we complained of any handicaps, physical or otherwise that might hinder us.
She proceeded to show us pictures and recordings of 3…[Read more]

I so appreciate your suggestions. I have exhausted all these avenues but with a minimum of improvement. The problem is with the first joint closest to the nail. It has very little flex ability and wearing the braces is even more restrictive. I have made an elastic loop that goes around the bow stick and my middle finger. That is to ensure I do not…[Read more]
