Hey Peter. So I was told by an old-timer that the high ascending/low descending was the “correct” way to do it. It does feel more Texas Style to me that way. But if you’re not feeling it, I would say play them both low…throw in the high once just to surprise everybody!!!
Really, it’s your call, sir.

I have a question about the high 2 ascending and low 2 descending you suggest in the basic melody tutorial of forked deer. It sounds plain wrong to me. Is it a sin to always play the low 2 that I’d like to hear? What’s fiddling tradition did the high 2 come from?

Well, it seems that there are enough folks who would be interested in downloadable lessons, I’ll go ahead and start creating some files for download. I am thinking that I’ll offer each lesson for individual purchase so folks can go that route instead of membership. It will probably take a while to reconvert and zip all files to get them ready…[Read more]

I agree with Jessica, to be able to download them so you can watch them any time without the need for a internet connection or put your existing videos on a dvd

It would be fantastic if we could download videos for offline viewing, I’m having a heck of a time getting them to play over even high speed T1 connection. The slowness of this site may not work for me in the long run.

Hey there, Delta. Thanks for the question. I have condsidered it, but at this point, the production time and shipping seems to outweigh the folks asking for DVDs…that being said, I’m also considering creating downloadable lessons. In other words, you could buy one lesson at a time, download them to your computer (assuming you have access to…[Read more]

Any thought to putting all your video lessons on a DVD to sell, for those who do not have access to the internet or the internet on a daily basis?
Thanks

Hi Casey, Wow, what a sweet arrangement, classic quality Bluegrass voice, and who would not like Stuart Duncan’s Sweet Fiddling that seems so easy and effortless. Sometimes I remind myself to try for economy of motion on the fiddle to get that clean sweet sound.

You have to appreciate both singing and playing on this number. I’m not familiar with Paul Brewster, but I think I need to get so. I love this guy’s effortless delivery, despite the contrived setup. Check out the second position action that Stuart Duncan provides on his tasteful solo…
